Old Bottle and Lemon
This is another old bottle painting. I paired it with a lemon and a folded cloth to add colour. The trick is to paint the bottle so that it looks transparent yet add the colour of the bottle so that it looks iridescently old. Oil on board. 7" X 5" $75

Lisa's Gift
About 30 years ago I visited my daughter in Las Vegas. We went window shopping in a nearby mall. I spotted 2 small ceramic birds that I liked. For my following birthday I received them as gifts. I was surprised & pleased. So today I decided to paint one to see if it could look like ceramic. I also wanted to paint with gray tones. I added a few highlights but the overall light was generalised & there wasn't much contrast. I will paint another one in different light. I do like the results of this bird anyway. Sweet.

Plum Passion
Day 21 of the 60/60 Painting Challenge. This candle is called, Plum Passion. It's fragrance is a combination of plum, raspberry, vanilla & cinnamon. I was in olfactory heaven while painting. I added a bit of whimsy with the background. Oil on board 7" X 5" $75

Old Blue Bottle
I have a collection of old bottles. The first bottle in my collection I dug out of my yard in San Diego. Back in the 20's people buried their trash. I discovered 2 bottles when I dug to plant a vegetable garden. This bottle I probably bought in a bottle shop in Lordsburg, AZ. I hope to paint several over the next few weeks. Some are iridescent. I see such beauty in these discarded antiquities. Oil on board.

Lemon Pepper
Stan's painting - Another opportunity to paint something from the pantry as well as the beautiful colour of a lemon. Also an opportunity to contrast two complimentary colours, yellow & purple. Watercolor

Chili Powder
Stan's painting. The pantry is always a good source of painting material. I love the colours on the various bottles. Also when single objects are posed in the light they take on a subtle mysterious quality. Watercolor 10" X 5" $75

Offered Candle
I painted this candle right after the Calla Lily. My theme seems cultural; Mexican motif. I love the striped cloth and the thought of offering up a candle. I lit the candle; painted it; left the studio for a few hours. When I returned the candle had burned down to the nub(?) How fortunate I was that my studio was still intact. Just maybe my offered candle was pleasing. Oil on board 7: X 5" $75
Calla Lily ala Diego Rivera
I painted Calla Lilies several years ago; one field of Calla Lillies I gave to a very good friend. A single Calla Lily was given to Stan's friend (who loved Calla Lillies) This time around I had difficulties painting this flower. I told an artist friend about my struggle with colour & he concurred with me that they are indeed hard to paint. He said they have lavender, green, ochre, yellow, etc. It is very easy to mix mud when mixing these colours. But then a friend posted she liked this version and that it reminded her of Diego Rivera. I wish I had painted mine before he did. Oil on canvas panel 7" X 5"

Lime Cream Cheese Icing
This is Day 11 - I bought a new computer & I'm still learning how to use it. I accidentally erased Day 9. I'll photograph it again & repost. I'm also a day or two behind. I'll catch up this weekend. The painting being posted today is a vanilla cupcake with lime cream cheese icing. I love baking these little edibles. I placed one cupcake in a bowl thinking the repetition of shapes would be eye pleasing. I painted it. I'm not sure I needed the repetition. The paintings are displaying darker than they really are. I'll have to have a tutorial on this computer soon. The painting is oil on board. 6" X 6" $75

Creamer On Old Shirt
Day 7 of 60/60 Painting Challenge - I bought this creamer in a consignment shop in Oceanside, CA. I wanted to paint it on a dark cloth. I went into the spare bedroom next to my studio; saw some of my son's clothes on the guest bed; pulled a dark cloth from his clothes pile, which turned out to be an old faded black t-shirt. It became my backdrop. It was wrinkled & had many folds. Quite a challenge to paint! $75

Cutie Clementine
I bought a netted bag of Cuties. And like popcorn or M&M's I couldn't stop with one. My bag lasted a few days. I thought the last one would look good in a painting next to a blue container. I let some of the underpainting show through. I was inspired by Carol Marine. I'm noticing that even though I want larger looser brush strokes, I'm tightening up somewhat. I'm doing what's comfortable & natural. This is oil on board. 7' X 5" $75

Art Of Baking
Day 3 I recently went to a cooking school and learned how to bake & ice gourmet cupcakes. This is a chocolate cream cheese cupcake. I think the blueberries add a nice touch. This painting seems to be about textures. Got milk? Oil on board. $75
